Tutoring services provided by Lady Nerd Tutoring are performed by Nora Trow-Shaw, who has been providing these services to students online and in person in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1996.
Nora earned her bachelor's degree in Pure Mathematics from Humboldt State University in 2005, her master's degree in Pure & Applied Statistics from CSU East Bay in 2011, and a post-graduate Certificate in Data Science from UC Berkeley's Extension program. She was certified as a one-on-one tutor while at Humboldt State University.
Nora has experience tutoring students of all ages and levels, from elementary students to graduate students. She has tutored students with learning and other disabilities, students with behavioral challenges, and students with non-standard learning styles. She has also tutored students who are in accelerated courses, hybrid courses, and online-only courses.
Nora has nine years of experience as a college mathematics and statistics professor, teaching both basic skills and transfer-level math classes.
When Nora was in high school she faced academic challenges she was not able to overcome alone. Her experience working with tutors herself inspired her to help other students who face similar academic challenges. Nora provides a suite of academic assistance beyond her expertise in mathematics as an academic coach for students, helping them develop study skills and become independent learners.
